Underwood-Memorial Hospital has been caring for the future ever
since two dedicated and visionary physicians graduated from the
Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and settled in Gloucester
County in the early days of the last century. Since J. Harris Underwood,
MD and William Brewer, MD opened their respective hospitals within
several blocks of one another here in Woodbury, their vision and
mission has evolved into what ours is today.

Underwood-Memorial Hospital is a 305-licensed bed, acute-care,
non-profit hospital serving Gloucester County and parts of Salem
and Camden counties. Underwood-Memorial received the distinction
of Accreditation
with Full Standards Compliance from the Joint Commission, the nation’s
oldest and largest independent accrediting body.
With over 1,800 full and part-time employees and a medical dental
staff of almost 400, Underwood provides a comprehensive array of
diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services in the comfort,
convenience and security of a community hospital setting.
