family medicine residency program - APPLICATION

Underwood-Memorial Hospital’s Family Practice Residency program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (http://www.nrmp.org).

Eligibility requirements for a PGY 1 position:
Complete the ERAS application (paper applications are not accepted). We do not have a supplemental application to the ERAS application. Ensure that all required documentation is uploaded and current in ERAS.

  1. Medical School Transcripts
  2. Dean's Letter
  3. 3-4 Letters of Recommendation from persons familiar with your clinical performance
  4. USMLE Scores (Steps I and II)
  5. Personal Statement explaining your interest specific to Family Medicine
  6. ECFMG Certification
  7. Medical school graduation cannot exceed 5 years prior to the start of the program.
  8. Under certain circumstances, one year of clinical experience in the U.S. could be required.

family medicine residency program - THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

  • Walk-in applicants will not be interviewed; applicants must be invited to interview.
  • Interviews are conducted Monday through Friday. We only interview one applicant per day.
  • Special requests for the interview day should be discussed with the Residency Coordinator prior to the interview.
  • Hotel accommodations can be made by the Residency Coordinator for those applicants traveling a distance. Applicants with a travel time of two or more hours are encouraged stay at the hotel the evening prior. We utilize the Fairfield Inn in Deptford, NJ.
  • Interviews begin promptly at 9 AM. Applicants are invited to participate in Morning Report at 8 AM prior to the start of their interview. Under special circumstances interviews can begin at 1PM.
  • Interviews wrap up between 1:30 and 2:00 PM.
  • Tour of the Family Medicine Center and Hospital.
  • Applicants will meet individually with the following during their interview (not necessarily in the order shown):
    1. Program Director (30-60 minutes)
    2. Faculty (30 minutes each)
    3. Chief Resident (30-45 minutes)
    4. Group lunch with residents (60-90 minutes)

Please note that our program does not offer observerships/externships.
