Stroke Prevention Screening

An annual event at Underwood-Memorial is the stroke prevention screening in cooperation with the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.  Special testing for blood pressure, pulse and carotid artery bruits are performed by specially trained nurses and doctors. Counseling for the signs and symptoms of stroke and when to seek help are an important part of this free outreach. Registered Nurses provide counseling according to the American Heart and Stroke Associations’ guidelines.
